Fitness Room
Because the Fitness Room at West Wight Sports Centre is unique to us, regardless of whether or not you use another gym, or are even a trainer yourself, you will need to have an induction with one of our instructors.
Our fitness instructors are trained to meet every one of your requirements, from benefits of regular exercise, to the importance of a healthy diet.
The regular staff who can be found in the fitness room are:
Brenda Craddock (the supervisor) who is a YMCA Fitness Instructor, ASA Advanced Swimming Teacher and 'Active in Later Years' Leader.
Bob Hallam is a qualified YMCA Professional Fitness Instructor and has qualifications in circuit training. He's a qualified lifeguard.
Stef Hickman is qualified YMCA Fitness Instructor and Circuit Training Instructor. She is qualified as a Level 1 Swimming Teacher and Cycling Coach. In the pool Stef is a qualified Lifeguard and an Aqua Aerobics Instructor. She's also a qualified Coach for Tag Rugby.
Bob Beresford is also a YMCA Professional Fitness Intructor and lifeguard. He has additional qualifications in circuit training and BeneFIT (exercise for the less able).

Two Bobs and a Stef(!) run our circuit training classes.
The staff are as different as you! We have a mix of young and old using the equipment (all users of the Fitness Room must be at least 16 years old - regardless of fitness, memberships of other gyms or experience). So if you think you are too old, why not put your head in the door next time you are in the area, you may be pleasantly surprised!
You will also notice that we have other staff working in the Fitness Room, who are all there to help you and answer any questions that you may have. The Fitness Room is operated on a pay-as-you-go basis, giving you the flexibility to use it as and when you want to, or on a monthly basis (payable by direct debit only). Our equipment consists of 25 stations, supplied by Forza.
The cost of our gym is very reasonable! All users must have an induction, whether you train at other gym's or are even a fitness instructor yourself, you will not have used a gym the same as ours anywhere else, so for safety reasons, this is not negotiable!
We also run a Youth Gym on weekdays 4.30 - 6.30 in the afternoon, supervised by Adam Peckham. At this time we allow 14 - 16 year olds to use the gym. They must have had an induction before using the session. Inductions can be booked in the usual way. Those older than age 16 can also use the gym at this time.
